Now We Know Rebecca Is Responsible
This week’s was a twisty, nerve-wracking episode for Rebecca Sutter Ewing, played by the lovely Julie Gonzalo. Her brother Tommy demanded she betray her husband Chris by inserting a flash drive into his laptop computer. To ensure Rebecca’s compliance, Tommy snapped a photo of an unfortunate moment when Chris sought solace in the arms of his former lover, Elena Ramos, after learning of Bobby’s cancer.
Unfortunate if you are #teamBecca and not #teamElena, anyway.

Rebecca remained stalwart in her loyalty to Christopher until faced with what appeared to be evidence of his betrayal. However, when Chris returned to her, he confessed his moment of weakness and reaffirmed his commitment to his marriage. Rebecca forgave Chris, and pitched the flash drive in the trash.
Rebecca Sutter Sent the Email
So you might think with all that, that I am #teamBecca, but at the end of this episode, John Ross met with his private detective and learned that Rebecca Sutter sent the email to Elena two years earlier. This email discouraged Elena from attending her wedding to Chris, and Elena’s abandonment sent him careering off to Asia where Rebecca Sutter oh-so-conveniently comforted him and secured his name for herself.
So, hell no, I am not #teamBecca at all.
The teasers for next week’s episode, The Last Hurrah, suggest that Rebecca’s problems worsen now that John Ross has this knowledge to lord over her. We will probably end up feeling sorry for her before long. what with watching her beset on all sides by John Ross, Tommy, and at some point, the wrath of Christopher. Maybe we will learn that Tommy bullied her into this plot from the beginning.
Cliff Barnes Has a Daughter
As soon as Ken Kercheval was revealed to be reprising his role as Cliff Barnes, speculation began to swirl about Cliff’s daughter, Pamela Rebecca, as a potential love interest for one of the Ewing boys. A mysterious orphan named Rebecca and married to Chris Ewing seems a likely candidate for this long lost daughter.
And maybe not long lost either. Some point to the convenience of Cliff Barnes’ sudden reappearance at Southfork and his casual disregard of the new Mrs. Ewing as evidence that Cliff Barnes is part of whatever scam the Sutters have going.
Ew, I wouldn’t want to be Chris Ewing finding out he had married his mother’s namesake. Makes this tweet more amusing, I suppose.
.@TheElenaRamos I don’t think any son is ever comfortable thinking about his mother & his lover getting along. It confirms too many things.

Abraham Shears the Lamb?
Watching J.R. shave his son’s neck with a straight razor at the beginning of this episode was a bit of a treat, but of course, J.R. isn’t about to cut his son’s throat. I’ll write about that in another post.
Remember to tune in Wednesday night, June 27, 2012 at 9:00e/8:00c to watch the new Dallas on TNT.
